Here’s My Why

  • As a Jordan School Board member, mother, and teacher, I am deeply committed to the belief that public education is the bedrock of our society. Public education stands as one of America's greatest success stories, embodying our nation's promise of opportunity through equitable access for all children. I am dedicated to defending this essential principle and will advocate vigorously at the state level to ensure that every child receives the quality education they deserve. I am here to protect my children and your children's right to knowledge.

  • Running for re-election to the Board of Education allows me to continue nurturing and advancing an innovative learning environment for our students. My passion for education began in third grade when I had the chance to volunteer in a classroom with students who have disabilities. During one memorable moment, while teaching a child the difference between "empty" and "full," I found myself drenched with water, and that experience ignited a lifelong dedication to teaching.

I understand that education isn't always glamorous; our teachers work tirelessly, and I am committed to supporting them. Having lived in Utah my entire life and been a proud West Jordan resident for 15 years, I deeply value this community. As a parent of four, active PTA member, and participant in School Community Councils, I am deeply connected to the experiences and concerns of our families. I go to church with you, drive carpool with you, and share your values. I love this community and am eager to represent your voices and experiences in the boardroom.

  • I am deeply committed to ensuring that every child has access to high-quality education, regardless of their background or circumstances. After earning my Master's Degree in Special Education from the University of Utah, I began my career at Valley Junior High (Go Ligers!) in Granite School District, where I worked until the birth of my first daughter. Thanks to my supportive husband and a touch of grace, I was able to stay home with my children full-time. This experience gave me a new perspective on education, as I entrusted my own kids to teachers and became an engaged "school mom." I was involved in cutting out lamination, teaching Great Artists, and organizing the school safety fair. This involvement deepened my understanding of school life and highlighted that not every parent has the same opportunity to be so engaged. It was then I realized my passion for advocating for all children, not just my own.

As my youngest prepared to start full-day school, I began to think about my future and decided to return to teaching part-time while also running for my first term on the Jordan School Board. Serving our community for nearly four years has been an honor, and it has provided me with a unique perspective on education. I understand the needs of our schools from multiple viewpoints: as a parent, a teacher, and a district leader and advocate. Public education is my passion, and I am eager to roll up my sleeves and continue working on behalf of our students and community.
